Permanent or Rotating Assignments: You are
a registered nurse in a home health agency and have been employed
at the agency for 2 years. Most of the agency’s client’s contract
with the agency for home care services and are either paid
personally by the client or by third-party payers such as the
government or private insurance. Although some of the clients have
short-term needs for care only, others require ongoing care for
cancer or a chronic disease diagnosis. Presently, the agency
rotates assignments among the staff. You have felt for some time
that if the long-term clients were assigned a permanent nurse for
their care, it would be beneficial to the clients. You realize not
all of the nurses would like this reorganization of care and that
it might be difficult for the agency to balance workload
appropriately.
ASSIGNMENT: Develop a plan to
present to the director of the agency that would show how the
reorganization would work. If this change was implemented by the
agency, what would be the driving and restraining forces and how
could you strengthen the driving forces to make the plan
succeed?
