Calculate the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide solution
and the amount of hydrogen peroxide that reacted.
Determination of the hydrogen peroxide concentration is done by
redox titration with
permanganate ions. As the titrator is used a solution of potassium
permanganate, where they
violet permanganate ions are reduced to uncoloured manganese (II)
ions, as long as
the sample solution contains some reducing agent. Titration with
potassium permanganate
takes place in acidic solution. The processes during the titration
can be described as follows:
vMnO4=13 ml
cMnO4=0.02 M
vH2O2= 5 ml
Mn04- + 8 H+ + 5 e- Mn2+ + 4 H20 H2O2 2 H+ + O2 + 2 e- 2 MnO4- + 5 H2O2 + 6 H+ 2 Mn2+ +5 O2 + 8 H2O
