Consider the arrangement shown in the figure. Block A can move on the horizontal surface. Bars 1 and 2 of equal mass (m) are connected by a massless string through a massless and frictionless pulley. The coefficient of friction between the bars and the block is (muon). Use the concept of pseudo force to answer the following questions.
(a) What must be the acceleration of block A relative to a stationary observer standing on the horizontal surface such that bars 1 and 2 are at rest relative to block A? Hints: (i) Choose an observer who is moving with block A. This observer will have an acceleration relative to the stationary observer in the question. You need to find this acceleration.(ii) Forces of friction act between block A and bar 2 as well as between block A and bar 1.
(b) Determine the tension in the string in this case.
