A simple schematic for a hydraulic lift system is shown below. Initially, the lift is descending with a constant speed of 3 m/s forcing hydraulic oil through a valve at the bottom of the cylinder. Att = 0, the valve at the bottom instantly closes blocking oil flow through the valve. The objective is to simulate the dynamics of the lift following the valve closure. Particularly, we want a plot of the normalized displacement of the mass y(t)/y(0), a plot of normalized speed y(t)lyi and a plot of the normalized pressure in the cylinder P(t)/P(0) all three on the same graph with a legend. The total mass of the piston and mass being lowered is M = 300 kg. The pressure on top of the piston is vented to atmosphere. Gravity is g = 9.81 m/s”. The steel cylinder inside diameter is nominally D = 0.1 m and the outside diameter is nominally De = 0.106 m. For steel, Poisson's ratio is v=10.30 and the modulus of elasticity is E = 200x10° N/m². y(t) piston y(0) = 10 m valve
