Student Grade 1. For an industrial application, a lift mechanism powered by a smgle-square threaded shaft is recommended. The lift system is required to lift an external load of up to 3500 lbs. The major diameter of the shaft is 1.25" The shaft is well lubricated and has thread pitch of 1/8" The power screw friction is measured about 0.075. The collar friction is measured about 0.1 and collar bearing diameter is 2.5" The total length of lift mechanism is 10" a. Estimate the required torque to lift up the full payload in f-1b (10 Pus) b. If the max rated torque of the motor drive is 20 fi-lb, can this motor-drive do this job as it is intended? (5) c. With the total torque available, estimate the max payload that can be lifted up?
