PLEASE ANSWER ALL 3 PARTS (1-3) TO PROBLEM 2
(above).
Problem 2 (50 points) - A turbine blade has a stiffness of 89832 N/m, a mass of 0.002 kg, and is excited by the upstream vanes. The blades are rotating at 3600 rpm. Upstream of the blades there are 16 vanes. The critical damping ratio (zeta) is 0.10. 1 (20 points) What are the natural frequency, damped natural frequency, and the excitation frequency with the maximum response (give all frequencies in Hz)?

2 ( 20 points) The vane wakes are exciting the vanes with an amplitude of 235 Newtons. What is the amplitude and phase of the response? Make a plot of the response versus time for the first 2 cycles of vibration (assume the excitation to be a cosine).

3) (10 points) The response amplitude in part 2 is too high and has to be reduced by 50% by raising the natural frequency. What mass (with the existing stiffness) will result in the desired response amplitude?
