Post by answerhappygod »

A 5 m long horizontal planar truss member experiences the
following nodal displacements
(assume horizontal x-axis):
u1≔30 mm
v1≔20 mm
u2≔40 mm
v2≔50 mm
Resolve these nodal displacements into a rigid body motion part
(which causes no internal forces)
and a deformation motion part (which does cause internal
forces). Assume small rotations/
displacements.
In how many ways can this be done? Show all possible
solutions.
