Auditors and their regulators are responsible for their current
‘irrelevance’. Like typical accountants, they seem to ‘work and
report to themselves, and very few non-accountants understand what
they do’. a. Express your opinion about this assertion. Relate your
answer to i. the historical evolution of auditing vis-à-vis the
agency dilemma/dialectic. ii. Existing regulations and standards
iii. Practical occurrence within Ghana and the rest of the world.
b. Are there ways that auditors can improve the perception of the
relevance of their work i. Within the scope of the existing legal
and regulatory framework? ii. By introducing or amending existing
regulations?
