1- Carbon dioxide is pumped through a long underground 25.4 cm diameter steel pipeline to an oil field for underground oil recovery. Due to the great length of the pipeline, several booster pumps are needed along the pipeline at intervals of 124 km. The pressure of the gas in the pipe leaving any booster pump station is 98 bar, and before the gas reaches the next booster station, the pressure drops to 4 bar. The temperature of the gas in the pipe is approximately constant at 300K. Assume f=0.0169, k=1.29, and R=188.92 J/kg.K. 1. Find the Mach number of the flow at both ends of the pipe between two neighboring booster stations 2. Determine whether the limiting condition (choking) has been reached in the pipe 3. Determine the density and the velocity of the flow at both ends of the pipe. (Value 15 points).
