For a pump, the Euler turbomachinery equation is given as, P = pg (UV42 - U.V.1 which can be modified for a turbine as, -P = pg (UV12 - UV1) P = pg (U, V-U,Vez) For what value of the circumferential velocity (U), absolute velocity normal component (V), and the absolute velocity tangential component (V+), we can attain 1. Maximum power supplied to fluid (for pump) and 2. Maximum power extraction (for turbine) Consider both flow situations i.e. flow entering turbine and pump from outer radius, and flow entering turbine and pump from inner radius.
