You work in a company that manufactures photocopy machines, model ESX44. After several complaints from customers, the company did some tests on ESX44 and found to its surprise that the linear charge density on the photocopier's cylindrical drum (whose length is 42 cm and diameter 12 cm) was not uniform. It changed with distance along the drum's length as 8.0x PC/m. So, your boss puts you on the task of designing a new photocopier machine. This time she wants you to reduce cost by decreasing the drum's dimensions to 60% their size in the ESX44. Also, for proper operation, she wants the charge distribution to be uniform along the new drum. Additionally, the new drum must produce the same electric field at its surface as that produced on the ESX44 drum's surface. For safety reasons, you do not want the charge to exceed 0.70 HC. Is your design feasible?
