Context Diagram & DFD level o The MF Sdn. Bhd. uses a computer system to process its payroll transactions. All transactions and master files are maintained on a database. Time cards serve as the primary input into the payroll system. The following narrative describes payroll processing activities at MF Sdn. Bhd. Every two weeks the timekeeper receives the time cards from employees, reviews them for accuracy, makes correction and sends them to the payroll department. The payroll clerk keys in the information contained on each time card directly into the computer. As the transaction is entered, it is (3) displayed upon the monitor so that the payroll clerk can edit the entry for correctness. Transactions containing errors are corrected and re-entered into the system. The payroll transaction file is then sorted by staff number. The sorted payroll transaction file is then used to update the employee payroll master file. The old payroll master file data is retrieved for updating and the new payroll master file is generated from this payroll batch processing. The payroll clerk later files the time cards by staff number. The computer generates the payroll outputs: pay checks, pay slips and a payroll register. The payroll clerk distributes the paycheck and pay slips to the respective employees. The payroll register is reviewed by the controller and filed for later reference.
