A 6 m high vertical retaining wall supports a horizontal
backfill. The backfill has a moisture content of 18%, void ratio of
0.65, Gs = 2.68 and ф = 28 degrees. Consider 1 m length of wall.
1 Calculate the total active force on the wall when the water
table is at the top of the wall. 2. Calculate the total active
force on the wall when the water is lowered to 4m from the bottom
of the wall. 3. Calculate the total active force on the wall when
the water is at the bottom of the wall.
