A gas at a pressure of 1.4 MN/m2 and temperature of 360°C is expanded adiabatically to a pressure of 100kN/m2. The gas is then heated at constant volume until it attains at 360°C when its pressure is found to be 220kN/m² and finally it is compressed isothermally until the original pressure of 1.4 MN/m² is attained. 1.1. Sketch a well labelled P-V diagram for these processes 1.2. if the gas has a mass of 0.23kg determine: 1.2.1. the value of the adiabatic exponenty (6) 1.2.2. the change in internal energy during the adiabatic expansion (6) = Take Cp (specific heat at constant pressure) for the gas = 1.005kl/kg K and consider the variation of internal energy during the adiabatic process: AU=CyAT Where Cy = specific heat at constant volume Rounding off to two decimal places
