Question 11 2 pts John Kendrew, an English biochemist, earned a Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his pioneering studies on protein structure. In 1958, he determined the first three-dimensional, atomic model of a protein. He had solved the structure of the compact, oxygen-storing protein myoglobin. The interior of myoglobin puzzled Kendrew as he noticed that this particular region contained amino acids that have hydrophobic side chains, presumably creating a hydrophobic pocket. However, the highly polar backbone of the amino acids would need to be packed into the interior of myoglobin as well. which seemed disruptive to the hydrophobic interactions between the side chains, Explain how the formation of a-helices solves this problem.
