Post by answerhappygod »

Harry, Ron and Hermione come to a room that full with winged
keys, soaring overhead with high speed. To continue their journey,
they need to catch at least one silver winged key. In every catch,
the probability of catching one key is 0.4 and zero probability of
catching more than one key. If a key is caught, the probability
that it is a silver key is 0.03. All other keys are gold. The catch
among three of them are mutually independent.
(a) Let X be the numbers of gold keys they caught in one catch.
If each of them catchs the winged keys for 3 times, and the catch
for each time is independent, find the moment generation function
MX (t) for the total catch of three of them. [4 marks]
(b) Let N be the number of catches Harry has performed until the
first silver winged key is caught. Find E(N). [2 marks]
(c) Let SX and GX represent the total number of silver and gold
winged keys that caught by Harry in four attempts; SY and GY; SZ
and GZ, represent the total number of silver and gold winged keys
that caught by Ron and Hermione respectively in four attempts.
