The word expert is defined as, "one with the special skill or knowledge representing mastery of a particular subject." An expert, in whole, is a person that has extensive knowledge or ability based on research, experience, or occupation and in a particular area of study. These are the things that make a person an expert. An expert is usually asked their advice on a subject they have extensive knowledge about. But keep in mind all experts do not agree on everything. They can have different opinions. The method I will use to find an expert is to check them and see if the person is an expert first I will check the author's credentials. Secondly, I will make sure the author is not biased in the information they are presenting. A topic I would like to research would be the current nursing shortage. The three separate strategies that I would use to research this topic would be first to brainstorm. Brainstorming is defined as," the mulling over of ideas by one or more individuals in an attempt to devise or find a solution to a problem" Brainstorming is making a list of questions pertaining to the nursing shortage. The questions can be a simple as cause and effect questions. What is the cause of the nursing shortage, what are the factors increasing them? What is being done to help with this issue? What has been done and what has failed and what has worked in the past. How long will this last? You will need to ask what are the main questions or themes in the conversation about your topic you would like to ask? These questions can be looked for on google, or the local news. The second strategy I would use is into what has been written about the subject. This will include looking at different textbooks. Also looking on the research site that was provided by the school it is known as our LIRN Library. This is a good reference because I can control the information that is being presented. The publications I will use can not be older than 5 years old. Once have gathered all of my information I will then start the process of freewriting. In this stage, I will gather all of the information that I have found and I will then put it on paper. This helps me organize my thoughts onto paper and make sure they all flow in a concise manner. This also helps me because usually in this stage more questions will pop up for me to research. Lastly, after writing my paper I will revise it. Again this can help me clean up my research paper. These are the strategies of research I will use.
