What is the first step in emptying a
colostomy pouch filled with feces (assuming the PSW has already
donned PPE) ?
a.
The ostomy belt is removed and discarded in the garbage
bin.
b.
The entire pouch, including the flange is removed and discarded
in the sharps container.
c.
The drain at the top is opened so
that the contents can be emptied.
d.
The drain at the bottom is opened so
that the contents can be emptied.
