4. In 1984 a study was conducted to determine whether the probability of recovery from stage T3 squamous cell carcinoma of the glottic larynx is different for two well known treatments - surgery and radiation. To study the effects of these treatments on recovery, researchers looked at a SRS of 41 people who had stage T3 squamous cell carcinoma of the glottic larynx and were treated with either surgery or radiation. (Reference: Mendenhall, W. M., R. R. Million, D. E. Sharkey, and N. J. Cassis., 1984) Below is a summary of this data set. Name: MAS 312 Original Counts Radiation Surgery Total Treatment / Recovery No Yes Total 3 15 18 2 21 23 5 36 41 Expected Counts Radiation Surgery No 2.1951 2.8049 Yes 15.8049 20.1951 Radiation Surgery No Yes (a) The chi-squared test given here is the same as what kind of test?

(a) The chi-squared test given here is the same as what kind of test? A test of one mean A test of two means A test of one proportion A test of two proportions (b) Are conditions met for the independence test? Explain. (C) Regardless of your answer to part (b), find the Test statistic of the independence test and the p-values.
