Prompt: “Providence” refers to God’s care and provision over
everything in creation. In the story of Joseph, we see God’s
providence in how He even used evil and misfortune to save
countless lives. Longman offers four sections on this theme with
the heading “You Meant it for Evil…” Read these short essays and
answer the following prompt in light of the Joseph narrative and
your own experience (the essays can be found on pp. 463-464,
482-483, 497, and 561-564 [This last section is in the reading for
next week])

According to Longman’s essays, what do you consider to be the
most important aspects of God’s providence that we learn from the
Joseph narrative? Have you experienced God’s providence in your
life, and/or can you think of another passage in the OT that also
shows God’s providence?
