As a result the blood does not clot. This means that even a relatively minor cut or bruise can be life-threatening. I 2 11 III 2 a) With reference to the above pedigree, explain why the pattern of inheritance represented by the above pedigree chart is more likely to be X- linked recessive than autosomal recessive. b) Based on the information provided, identify the genotype and the phenotype of the following individuals in the pedigree. Individual Genotype Phenotype 1-2 11-4 III-2 III-4 c) Assume that Individual III-2 decides to have a child with a woman. Construct one Punnett square based on the assumption that the woman does not have hemophilia and has a homozygous genotype. Calculate the probability of their child having hemophilia. d) Assume that Individual III-2 decides to have a child with a different woman. Construct a Punnett square based on the assumption that the woman does not have hemophilia, but carries the gene for this disorder. If this couple has a son, calculate the probability that their child will have hemophilia.
