How can I find the theoretical and actual yield of an
aldo-dehydration chemistry reaction? The reagents are 0.80 mL of an
unknown aldehyde, 0.20 mL of an unknown ketone, 4 mL of 95% ethanol
and 3 mL of 2 M sodium hydroxide. The final weight of the product
was 0.26 grams. The melting point was 189 degrees which
signified that the unknown aldehyde was benzaldehyde, and the
unknown ketone was cyclopentanone.
