Mike is a 6 year-old boy. His parents Dana and Jack are
concerned that his eating is very picky and he only wants to eat
carbs and sweets all the time. He will often throw tantrums
at the table or try to leave the table. Dana and Jack has tried
several things: They have tried to distract him and make the
mealtime easier by turning on a cartoon on the screen while Dana
feeds Mike. They have also tried a more rigid approach of not
allowing him to have dessert until his plate is clear and
restricting his sugar intake at other times. However, these
methods have been of little success. The family meal time at the
table is often a battle and is not only difficult for Mike, but
also leave Dana and Jack feeling exhausted.
List two interventions you would recommend (within the
scope of what you learned in this course) to Mike's parents
and provide the rationale(reasons for your recommendations)
for each.
