R₂ = 50 22 www R₁ DC Power Supply R₂ = 50 £2 www A variable DC power supply and an ammeter is connected to a resistor circuit as shown above. Two resistors are known, but R₁ is unknown. In order to calculate the resistance of R₁ voltage and current data are recorded as the power supply voltage is increased from 2 V to 10 V. A table containing the data is shown below. 2 4 6 8 10 Potential Difference (V) Current (mA) 40 55 97 138 155 1. Plot the data using Logger Pro. Be sure to label axes and perform a curve fit before taking a screen shot. 2. Calculate the total resistance of the circuit. 3. Calculate the resistance of R₁. The power supply is now fixed at 12 V and one of the resistors is replaced by a capacitor as shown below. R₂ = 50 2 www 12 V DC Power Supply R₁ 4 nF 4. Calculate the current in the circuit immediately after the switch is closed. 5. Calculate the current in the circuit a long time after the switch has been closed. 6. Write a differential equation describing the circuit when the switch is closed. Use VB, R₁, R₂, and C rather than numerical values.
