Organic agriculture generally has less impact on the
environment, and more farms are moving to organic methods every
year. I have a small farm in Puyallup and would like to convert it
to 100% organic. What do you predict for the first years after
making this transition?
a) A transition to organic farming will show immediate benefits
with healthier soil, return to natural insect populations, and
higher crop yield within the first year.
b) A transition to organic farming will improve soil quality and
biodiversity right away but will require more labor and irrigation
to produce equal yield (compared to non-organic).
c) A transition to organic farming will result in reduced yield
and higher expenses; it will take several years, and a greater
labor force, to produce equal yield (compared to non-organic).
d) A transition to organic farming will result in a farm that
can never compete with non-organic farming in both productivity and
cost effectiveness
