A. Stellar Evolution A On the H-R diagram at the right, paths illustrating the changes in luminosity and temperature of three different types of stars. For part A, questions 1 and 3, use only the letters representing the correct path. B C 1) On the diagram, indicate which path belongs to a) Low-mass stars (0.08 to 0.4 solar masses) b) Medium-mass stars (0.4 to 4.0 solar masses) Surface temperature c) High-mass stars (over 8.0 solar masses) Use only the capital letters from the diagram. 2) Decide which, if any, of these types of stars has never been observed to leave the main sequence and explain why. 3) Rank the amount of time it takes for these stars to evolve along these luminosity and temperature tracks. If any are equal, put them on the same blank and leave any remaining blanks empty. (fastest) (slowest) OR, they all take the same amount of time Check only if all take the same amount of time. Explain why you ranked the stars this way: Luminosity
