U6 U5 U1 U4 -360 The U6 snRNA spends most of its life base paired to other RNAs. It enters the spliceosome as part of the U4/U5/U6 tri-snRNP, where it is based-paired with the U4 snRNA, as shown above. The entry of U4/U5/U6 into the complex forms the pre-B spliceosome, which will need to undergo rearrangements to assemble the active site for the first transesterification reaction. In this active complex, called B, the U4 RNA is removed to allow U6 interaction with other RNAs. What two RNAS base pair with U6 in Bact? Although the transesterification reactions that result in intron excision and exon ligation are isoenergetic, the spliceosome cycle requires energy to drive conformational changes during assembly, including the disruption of the U4/U6 interaction. What kinds of proteins mediate these conformational changes during spliceosome assembly?
