Compound A (C8H6) reacted with an aqueous solution of Hg2+ and H2SO4 to give compound B (C8H8O). Compound B does not give any further product upon reaction with Na2Cr2O7, H2SO4 and water. Treatment of A with BH3/ H2O2 and catalytic amounts of OH- gives compound C (C8H8O). Compound C can be converted to D (C8H8O2) using a combination of Na2Cr2O7, H2SO4 and water. Compound B reacts with Br2 and Fe to give compound E (C8H7BrO). Compounds B and C react with H2O and catalytic amounts of acid to give compounds F and G, respectively. Compounds F and G both share the same molecular formula, C8H10O2.
Compounds B and C, upon their reactions with catalytic HClO4, H2 and Pd/C in ethanol, give H. Compound H reacts with Br2 and Fe to give I (major) and J (minor product), but on the other hand, the reaction of Br2 and Fe with B gives only one product, E
Kindly give the exact structures of compounds A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J.
