1. The period of oscillations of a heavy mass attached to a
spring is 0.5s. The length of unstretched spring is 25cm.
What is the new length of the spring, if the mass hangs vertically
from it and there are no oscillations? Assume that the spring
itself has negligible weight.
2. A musician has a string of length L. If she makes
the string shorter by 10cm, the fundamental frequency of the
string increases by a factor of 1.5. Assuming that the tension
is unchanged, determine L.
