The raw materials of 0.4 mol % ammonia and 99.6 mol % water are continuously supplied to the rectifier corresponding to three or more stages. Before entering the tower, the raw material is completely converted to saturated steam and enters between the second and third stages from above the tower. All vapors from the top stage are condensed, but not cooled. 1.3 moles of condensate per mole of feedstock is refluxed to the top stage, and the remaining condensate is withdrawn as the top product. The liquid from the bottom of the tower enters the reboiler and is heated by steam coils. The steam generated from the reboiler goes under the bottom stage, and the product under the tower is continuously extracted from the reboiler. The vaporization rate in the reboiler is 0.6 moles per mole of feedstock. The equilibrium relationship in the concentration range relevant to this problem is given by the following equation.
y=12.6x.
Calculate the mole fraction of ammonia for the next term.
(a)The bottom product from the boiling pot, (b) the top product, and (c) the liquid exiting the feed end.
