Acetic acid (100,0%) produced from the biomass pyrolysis is a promising feedstock for the production of clean-energy source of hydrogen. You are working for a company that produces hydrogen and your boss asks you to prepare a design project for a hydrogen synthesis plant which would be located close to your current plant site Hydrogen synthesis plant is supposed to be only 450 m away from the storage tank area of the acetic acid and will have an attitude of 45 m with respect to this plant. The storage tank, which is the start point of the pipeline, is being operated at 25°C and 1.3 atm. Volumetric flow rate of the acetic acid is 4 x 103 m³/s. The storage tank, which is the end point of the pipeline is opened to the atmosphere. All of the piping is 2 in schedule 40 pipe. At this stage, you are expected to i) Decide on the material of pipes (Hint:Check corrosivity from "Safety Data Sheet" for your chemical), ii) Decide on type and number of valves and fittings, iii) Calculate the total frictional loss, iv) Decide on pump efficiency, iv) Calculate the kW power needed for the pump.
