A constant-head permeability test was conducted on a sand
sample. The diameter and length of the test specimen
were 4 and 8 inches, respectively. The head difference
between manometer levels was 12 inches during the test, and the
water temperature was 20 degrees Celsius. Assuming it
took 3500 seconds for 200 in3 to discharge,
calculate the soil’s coefficient of permeability, in cm/sec.
A. 1.54 E -2 cm/sec
B. 7.7 E -3 cm/sec
C. 6.06 E -3 cm/sec
D. 3.03 E -3 cm/sec
