A CU triaxial test was conducted on a saturated clay specimen
with confining stress of 200 kPa. When the specimen fails, the
deviator stress and pore water pressure are 300 kPa and 180 kPa,
respectively. After analysing the experiment results, the effective
cohesion is 75.1 kPa, and the effective friction angle is 30
degrees. The normal stress acting on the failure surface is _____
(kPa)
Please note the correct answer is 275 kPa.
