A 35 000 m3 volume building for a chemical
manufacturing facility requires three air changes per hour. The air
in the building is to be maintained at a temperature of 22℃ and
relative humidity of 65 per cent. The external air is saturated and
at a temperature of 6 o C. Determine (a) Volume of saturated air at
6 ℃ required to be pumped into the building per hour. (b) mass of
water in kg/h to be added to the air to maintain the required
humidity at 22℃ (assume water is supplied at 6℃) (c) Heat transfer
required by the dry air in MJ/h to produce the required temperature
of 22℃. (d) Heat transfer required by the combined water vapor in
the air and the extra water needed in MJ/h. Take Cp for superheated
steam as 2.0934 kJ/kg K.
