Wet steam at 3 MPa flows through a pipe 50 m long. The pipe has an external diameter of 100 mm. The pipe is covered with lagging 40 mm thick which has a coefficient of thermal conductivity of 0.065 W.m ¹.K. The surface transfer coefficient is 4.5 W.m2 K1 and ambient temperature is 15 °C. The steam flow rate is 320 kg.h¹ and it enters the pipe with a dryness fraction of 0.96. Assuming that there is no temperature drop across the pipe and that the heat transfer is steady in one dimension, determine: (9) 3.1 The heat lost in Mega Joules per hour through the steam main 3.2 The dryness fraction of the steam as it leaves the pipe (3) 3.3 The surface temperature of the lagging (3) [15]
