Special instructions for PART B (Questions 3 and 4) Take the last number of your registration number. Divide the last number by 4 and take the remainder. This remainder is your PAPER_INDEX number 'M'. If the remainder is zero take the PAPER_INDEX number as 1 (M=1). Whenever you find the symbol 'M' in PART B of the paper replace it with the PAPER_INDEX number. EX: If your registration number is 1233, then remainder is 3, M = 3 EX: If your registration number is 1236, then remainder is 2, M = 2 EX: If your registration number is 1234, then remainder is 0, M = 1 EX: If your registration number is 1230, then remainder is 0, M = 1 Please write the PAPER_INDEX number 'M' at the top of your answer sheet. Please note that if you calculate the PAPER_INDEX number incorrectly you will be given zero marks. Question 3 3.1 A time varying voltage y(t) is given by the equation: y(t) = -M, when x(t) > 1 y(t) = 0, when - 1 ≤ x(t) ≤ 1 y(t) = 2M (two times M), when x(t) < -1 where x(t) = 2 cos(1000t). Draw the signals x(t) and y(t) and calculate the form factor of signal y(t) [Total 25 marks]
