In an accident 2.5 kg of nitric acid (HNO3) were spilled. To
avoid risks to the environment, HNO3 can mix with sodium carbonate
(Na2CO3) in a "neutralization" reaction and thus form a salt
(sodium nitrate, NaNO3), water and carbon dioxide (CO2), according
to the following reaction UNBALANCED:
HNO3 + Na2CO3 --˃ NaNO3 + H2O
+ CO2
How many kilograms of Na2CO3 must be added to "neutralize" all
the spilled acid?
MM HNO3 = 63 g / mol
MM Na2CO3 = 106 g / mol
(Write the answer to 3 decimal digits)
