The reaction rate and extent of reaction (rate constant and rate order) of acetic anhydride hydrolysis can be determined using different types of techniques. This reaction is fast and exothermic which can be regarded as irreversible as represented in Eq. 1. (CHICO):0.H₂O --2CH,COOH (Eq. 1) The hydrolysis reaction takes place in a batch system at isobaric condition and perfectly mixed. Acetic anhydride is the limiting reactant with water in excess 10 times higher than acetic anhydride and first order with respect to water. The recorded data for several experiments are presented in Table 1 and Table 2. Table 1. Data recorded for different rate constant at different temperatures Temperature 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 (C) 0.00019 0.00026 0.0004 0.00055 0.0007 Rate constant 0.00012 0.00015 (L/mols) Table 2 Data recorded for one of experimental runs 2 3 4 Time (min) 0.5 Conversion 0.08 6 0.50 B 0.65 0.18 0.26 0.43 10 0.75 X₁ Q5 (CO2.PO2, C5) Evaluate the possible arrangements of series reactor that will increase the conversion at room temperature. Provide relevant diagrams and details calculation. (10 marks)
