A 5 kN load is carried by a 75 mm long journal bearing having a diameter of 150 mm. Fit tolerance is selected as H8/f7 (use mean clearance). Shaft is rotating at 750 rpm. A sump is cooled to keep the oil at 80°C which is fed to the bearing. a) Select the oil type. b) Find the lubricant viscosity and amount of oil that should be supplied. c) Check for design criteria. d) Find the frictional power loss.
