In a digital TDMA cellular mobile system, 5 carrier frequencies are allocated to a high capacity cell. The burst transmission rate per user is 100kb/s (kilo bits per second). The TDMA frame size is 30 millisecond (ms). Each burst consists of 500 bits of coded data, 60 bits for synchronisation and training sequence, 32 bits for other signalling messages and a guard period of 8-bit long duration: (a) Calculate the number of physical channels (time slots) in this cell. (b) If a half-rate convolutional coding is used in the above system, what is the source data rate (per user)?
