The Problem There has been a significant fall in the sale of our products during 2020-2021. There are two reasons for this. First, there has been a shortfall in production because of inadequate supply of raw material and non-availability of skilled manpower, causing disruption in the flow of products in the market. Second, with the coming up of new manufacturing companies, the competition has become very tough. This matter was discussed in the Board of Directors meeting on 25 March 2021. A number of measures were suggested to combat the adverse situation. We shall discuss these in detail in our next monthly meeting. The Solution A decision which we are going to announce soon is that this year the Company would not be able to pay one month's salary as bonus to the employees. This would obviously cause a flutter of disappointment among them. I would appreciate if you could handle the situation tactfully and ensure that the disappointment is not transformed into discontent, leading to a further fall in production. I would like you to report in the next meeting with your staff the action taken and the strategies used to minimize or eliminate the negative impact.
