Question-1 Figure 1 shows a reinforced concrete floor which is to be designed for a uniform storage loading of 8 kPa, in adition to its own weight. The structural system consists of a central T-beam simply supported on brick piers, and a one-way slab which is continuous over the T-beam and simply supported on brick walls at each side. Concrete strength f' = 25 MPa; required cover to reinforcement = 25 mm. The storage load of 8 kPa is to be treated as a live load for design purposes, and is assumed to always act over the entire floor - partial load is not considered. The shear force and bending moment diagrams for the slab under a uniformly distributed load w are given in the figure. a) Design the longitudinal and transverse reinforcement for the slab, and show the reinforcement on a typical cross-section similar to Section a-a. b) Determine the design ultimate loading for the T-beam, and the effective flange width to be used in designing this beam. c) Design the shear reinforcement required for the T-beam at the critical section for shear. Assume that at this section the longitudinal tensile reinforcement consists of four N28 bars. 7ª 175 1750 section d-a 5m 1-625 S.F.D. B.M.D. يفية Im 5m 5m 1-32u 3.125w 300 3.125 ur -3-125w -1.6250
