True or False if False why?
When a newborn mammal takes its first meal, the milk is rich in
proteins, including antibodies. At this early stage, the newborn
does not secrete proteases, such as trypsin, into the gut, which
spares the protein from hydrolysis. The digestive epithelium is
also permeable to intact proteins, which allows the newborn to take
up immune factors intact. This is an example of immunological
memory, which permits the newborn to benefit from the immunity the
mother had at birth.
