a. Analysis of a metal complex shows Co³+ is bound to an unknown ligand in an octahedral arrangement. The complex is green in color and exhibits paramagnetic properties. Further analysis shows that the possible ligand bound to the Co³+ could be Cl or CN. Which ligand is most likely bound in the complex and explain your reasoning. b. A second Co³+ compound is analyzed and is found to be bound to a ligand in a tetrahedral geometry. This compound is orange and does exhibit magnetic properties when placed in a magnetic field. Further analysis of this compound shows the ligands either to be Cl or CN". Which ligand is most likely bound in the complex and explain your reasoning.
