As a graduate chemical engineer at a minerals processing you
have been tasked with improving the tailings circuit by monitoring
the flowrate of thickener underflow. This fits with an overarching
plan to upgrade the pumps from ON/OFF to variable speed to better
match capacity throughout the plant. The thickener underflow has a
nominal flow of 50m3/hour and a solids content of 25%. Solids are
expected to be less than -0.15mm.
