An unknown compound crystallises as cubic BCC or FCC with the diffraction pattern shown in Figure 1 below. The X-ray powder diffraction pattern was obtained using Cu Ka radiation (a = 1.5418 Å). The peaks are observed at the following 20 angles: 40°, 58°, 73°, 86.8°, 100.4° Intensity 0.0 20.0 40.0 60.0 80.0 100.0 Diffraction angle 20 Figure 1 (i) What is the Bravais lattice of this element?
(ii) Assign a Miller index to each of the diffraction peaks and determine the d-spacings for each of them.
