Part One: You are working as a trainee at an engineering office. Your supervisor engineer asked you to go through a residential building plan that is located in Khalda as shown in Fig. 1. The building is four stories and you are asked to do the following: Classify what kind of structures you can use for this plan. • Discuss the kind of supports that can be adopted according to the structural systems that you can use. Show the changes that can occur in results accordingly. • Evaluate the loads and load combinations that could be used for this structure. Compare between different codes including ACI and Jordanian Code. Classify which parts of structural models could be classified as determinate and indeterminate Page 3 of 4 structures and provide charts. Discuss several cases. • Build up your own structural model and show sections in three different locations showing internal forces and their values. • Consider a two-dimensional determinate frame and run full analysis using the Dead, Live and Wind Loads and determine the moments, shear and axial force diagrams. Assume Wind Loads are acting from West side only. Your calculations have to run manually. • Analysis and Design Input Data: • LL - 2.5 kN/m? • DL= 7 kN/m² (excluding the own weight of the beam) • Fe' = 25 MPa for columns, beams and slabs elements.
