A slab, 235 mm thick, is constructed with C25/30 concrete and reinforced with 010@150 in both directions. The slab is located in a dry environment and must be able to carry an ultimate design load of 550kN on an area of 200mm x 200mm a) Check whether the reinforced concrete slab can carry the concentrated load. I.e., i) Check the permissible force at the face of the loaded area. ii) Check the shear resistance of the slab at the basic control perimeter. b) If the slab cannot carry the ultimate design load, determine the shear reinforcement required for fyk=500N/mm2. Propose number of perimeters of vertical links required, distances between perimeters, number of vertical links per perimeter and link spacing.
