Determine the water flow rate to accommodate the need of residents in 5-storeyed building and the required pipe size for each section for water supply system using tabular method. Each floor has one bath, two basins and two WC. The loading unit for the fixtures are provided in Table below. Equivalent length for the pipe fittings and values can be obtained from the lecture slides. The velocity in the pipe should be maintained between 0.7 m/s to 2.4 m/s. You may assume that all the appliances are at the identical level, which is 0.5 m above the connecting pipe branch. (Note: for this assignment, you only need to work on the top two floors) What do you think of the actual water velocity in the pipes? How would you assess if the design is safe for long term?
