A clinical psychologist has developed a new talk therapy treatment for depression. She has enlisted 20 volunteers from the community who are clinically depressed to take part in her new study. Half (10) of her participants will receive the antidepressant drug fluoxetine (Prozac) and the other half will receive no antidepressant drug. Additionally, for the group who receive the antidepressant drug, five participants will receive the new talk therapy treatment (new therapy) and five participants will receive traditional behavioral/cognitive talk therapy (behav/cog). For the other 10 participants who receive no antidepressant drug, five participants will receive the new talk therapy treatment (new therapy) and five participants will receive traditional behavioral/cognitive talk therapy (behav/cog). The following is a list of the participants' depression scores (lower scores equal lower depression) after 12 weeks of treatment: Subject D.V. 1 Drug No Drug No Drug 9 2 18 3 No Drug 12 4 Therapy Behav/Cog Behav/Cog Behav/Cog Behav/Cog Behav/Cog New Therapy New Therapy New Therapy 15 5 12 No Drug No Drug No Drug No Drug No Drug 6 6 7 9 8 3 9 No Drug 6 10 No Drug 3 New Therapy New Therapy Behav/Cog Behav/Cog 11 Drug 24 12 Drug 28 13 24 14 Drug Drug Drug Behav/Cog Behav/Cog Behav/Cog 32 15 20 16 Drug 20 New Therapy New Therapy 17 Drug 16 24 18 19 Drug Drug New Therapy New Therapy New Therapy 12 20 Drug 16
